Frequently Asked Quentions
Elastomers for Noise and Vibration Control, Shock Protection and Ergonomics (manufactured by EAR) / Confor Foams
- What is the precautions in applying to seat cushion?
- Provide a cover. (Otherwise the material may peel off from its surface contacted directly, because it is not resistant to tensile force.) Do not wash with water. (The material is so softened if contacted with water that its foam structure may be easily broken with slight force externally applied. If immersed in water, dewater with centrifugal dehydrator before drying.)
- Can it be used as an insole?
- Cannot be used. Such insole will break in the heel and wear thin gradually. However, it is ideally suited if applied to internal side surfaces of shoes.
- What are the features of MEMORY-FOAM?
- Visco-elastic foam with extremely greater viscosity compared to its elasticity restrains reaction to an input, and may deform responding to a small force input when it is slowly applied. As this material strongly rebounds to an input when it is rapidly applied, it is unlikely to bottom out. As rebounds are almost same to compression in the range between 25% and 60%, applications for absorbing vibration should be designed with 50% compression as a target.
- What is the behavior to an impact input?
- To an input in the range where viscosity works, it absorbs shock as if braking force is applied. To an input greater than that, it is transformed into breaking energy that breaks foam structure to absorb shock.
- Is there any MEMORY-FOAM that will not be hardened at low temperature?
- As MEMORY-FOAM is a product developed with top priority placed on its viscosity, it shows high temperature-dependency; hardened at low temperature while remarkably softened as the temperature rises.
- What is the maximum dimensions that may be produced?
- 2032×914×300 mm is the maximum size.
To be supplied in slices with thickness not greater than 100 mm and not less than 2 mm.
- Is it possible to color as required in addition to 4 colors currently available?
- Basically 4 colors by grade are available. Other colors are also acceptable depending on the quantity that may justify the production.
- Is it possible to change the characteristics as needed?
- Unfortunately there are no types available at present, other than existing 4 types.
- What is the Grade “E”?
- The products containing no siloxane and bromine, which is intended for use in high precision electronic equipment. They are distinguished with the alphabets “EG” added to the end of type number. There are 4 types of characteristics available which are almost same as those of conventional items (and the colors are also same).
- Other characteristics
- UL File No. E90847
- What is the original sheet size?
- 900 mm wide × 2000 mm long × 100 mm thick
- What is the minimum slice thickness?
- 2 mm, or 3 mm (CF-40 only).
- What is the minimum ordering quantity?
- Standard items are available from 1 sheet in any size, while EG series size is 900 mm wide by 2000 mm long by 300 mm thick.
- What is the material?
- Low repulsion urethane foam.
- What is the difference between standard items and EG series?
- Standard items contain silicone and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) not suited for use in electric equipment. EG series does not contain such substances. It is therefore recommended to use EG series for electric equipment applications.
