Elastomers for Noise and Vibration Control, Shock Protection and Ergonomics (manufactured by EAR) / Damping Materials
- What are the damping and isolation materials?
- Comparatively hard sheet or foam material that exhibits viscosity. It is used stuck to sheet metal or other plate-like object, which will exhibit resistance to a force externally applied.
- What is its function?
- This damping material, if stuck to some sheet metal (like bimetal), will resist to the expanding and contracting force which will otherwise bend the sheet metal when it starts vibrating, and will deaden vibration of the sheet metal. When a thin sheet metal is added to cover the damping material (to form a sandwich structure), the damping material resists to the force in the shear direction and improves its damping effect.
- What are the applications they are suited for?
-
- SD: Excellent in damping performance, which is suited for applications to sheet metals used in electronic equipment housings, light air planes, and custom cars in order to prevent resonance.
- C-2003: Excellent in strength, by which it is generally applied to sheet metals in various industries, including work tables where ultrasonic wave is utilized.
- C-2206: Easy-to-bend material, which is used stuck to thinner metal or plastic plates used in office automation equipment and medical equipment.
- CN: Mainly used in equipment for military use. Effective for damping vibration of thick plate.
- NV: Urethane damping material. Released as successor product of SD and C-2206.
C-3201 and C-3202: Energy absorption foam, ideally suited for applications including aircraft where lightweight is of prime importance. Also employed in audio equipment and protectors.
- Others
- How to install: Fixing with double-faced tape would be best.
Processing: May be die cut.
UL File No.: E90847
